Follow Faithfull the Brand as we explore the iconic pastelized art-deco, cuban influenced, never-sleeping beach side town of Miami, USA.
With its enclave of hip restaurants, world class night life & the famous South Beach scene, we roamed one of the trendiest hot spots on the map during Miami Swim Fashion Week ’16 – showcasing our latest collection & heating it up with our favorite Faithfull Girls along the way.
Nothing can beat the feel of sandy toes and salty skin which is why a dip in the ocean each day was not to be missed. It was a first time to Florida and no-one had prepared us for the beauty that was South Beach.
Everywhere we turned another burst of color shot through, another flock of beaming umbrella’s ready for the rich & famous, (and not so famous but equally people-watching worthy) appeared, always prepared for the mass vacationers to soak up the summer day sunshine in this havana-vibe locale.
When you are in Miami you can’t help but be amazed by the cuban feel, art deco movement that has shaped this region for decades and put South Beach on the map. Every street, every corner brings another twist of color, another mesmerising focal point that transports you back in time to a surreal holiday period.
As we were showcasing at Cabana, during Miami Swim Fashion Week 2016, we stayed predominately in South Beach – with trips to local floristry’s, malls and eateries to get ready for our big 3 days ahead. If you plan on spending your summer escape laying by the pool, soaking up the Atlantic Ocean with a side of wining and dining – then we would recommend to stay as close as possible to Collins Ave. This way, you are in easy walking distance to the miles of beaches and awe-inspiring eateries along this main district.
As we were needing to run errands, we rented a car for 3 days. Bear in mind parking in South Beach and Miami as a whole is quite chaotic. Add in the additional costs of valeting/parking and hiring – the total cost can add up quite quickly. Alternatively, we found Uber incredible in this city, where we never waited longer than 5 minutes for a ride.
Google “Miami Nightlife” and you are spoilt for choice. We were blown away by the amount of classic restaurents we could dine, fashion runway shows we could attend and cocktail after dark events occurring during our time at Miami Swim Week 2016.
A favorite past-time from our Miami Trip was embracing the specialty of going to a stunning rooftop pool bar overlooking the ocean, watching the sun go down with a glass of red in our hands – total relaxation mode was kicking in. The only place for this pursuit in our eyes, 1 Hotel South Beach.
Miami’s beachfront upscale oasis sits 18 stories above the lights and sound of the crystal clear oceanfront and downtown skyline providing a total escape from the hustle and bustle. Decorated in reclaimed wood and fairy lights, 1 Hotel creates a natural comfort with a hint of luxury for you to unwind and enjoy a mouth watering mix between mediterranean, latin and asian infused flavoured tapas, cocktails and wine from sun up to sun down. We loved it so much, we frequented on more than 1 occasion!
A trip to South Beach is not complete without at least visiting one nightclub or bar – whether it is to get those dancing shoes moving or purely to part-take in the art of people watching. We were lucky enough to get whisked away by our Place Showroom ladies and prepared ourselves for an Intimate VIP party – the artist, Travis Scott. This was an absolute highlight as he rapped and entertained the arena in a skate bowl and lastly created a mosh in the crowd!
One thing to mention, Miami is in the tropics – so prepare yourself for downpours of torrential rain without any warning – and we mean ANY warning. These can last 5 minutes to on-going, so if you don’t like getting wet – pack an umbrella or raincoat. Unlike us, who had to remove our shoes and run 2 streets home in the rain from the VIP Party – you’re future self will thank you for being prepared!
Presenting our new collection at Miami Swim Week had it’s perks – so were hundreds of other beautiful international brands. We were incredibly fortunate to be invited to attend these viewings which took place at Funksion Tent, 1 Hotel and the W Hotel where we saw the likes of Beach Riot, Blue Life and For Love & Lemons to name a few.
Not only did we get to see the latest trends and styles coming through, but we also bumped into some of our favorite Faithfull beauties enjoying the Miami sun.
Rosetta Bakery, South Beach
If you haven’t met an Australian, one thing you will quickly learn is that we adore bread and bakeries nearly as much as we live and breath for coffee. It was only right to find the best Bakery House in all of Miami, so we stumbled upon Rosetta Bakery House. Once you beat the morning queue to order the freshly made pastries, baguettes, breads, focaccia and sweet treats – oh and did we mention COFFEE – pull up a chair, take in all the aromas of the in house bakery and enjoy every single bite like you’re at home in an Italian Casa. If we were here more than 5 days, our waistlines would have been in trouble!
Dining on natural and local ingredients, mixed with an array of craft cocktails and organic wine sounds while floating 18 stories high with a 360 degree view of South Beach’s oceanfront – 1 Rooftop is a divine dinner location which we could not recommend more.
They have created a fresh and tasteful menu select of sushi, Hawaiian style ceviche with an asian flair which caters to your average diner, as well as vegetarians and vegans. Take in the view as the sun goes down, and be blown away by the textures, spices and flavours that this restaurant produces. Note, the 1 Rooftop is an adults only area – 21 years and older.
Jump in an uber, get dropped off on a little side street and you’ll find a hostel called Freehand. Don’t be alarmed and think your driver got the directions confused – inside, you will find this hip lounge bar which is frequented by locals, holiday-makers, hipsters and those in the know looking for a casual and cool cocktail/tapas bar without any of the fuss and price tags that come along with most South Beach lounges. With a delicious array of mediterranean tapas to enjoy with a side of spicy cocktails, buckets of sangria or build your own beverage options – you are in for a divine evening at The Broken Shaker.
What we learnt from this trip was that location is key in South Beach, and we could not have chosen better while staying at Pestana South Beach. Two steps from Ocean drive, in the exclusive area of the Art Deco District you will find yourself at a hidden oasis known as home for your vacation. Showcasing white and blue facades of color, this Resort is considered a national heritage and is classified by the Historical Preservation Board.
Blending contemporary decor and sophistication with pastel color ways, 1940’s black-and-white buxom bunny photographs and vibrant vintage stripes – the vibe is immediately set for your stay, instantly transporting you back in time to South Beach, Miami – retro style.
Overall, we could not have shared a better time exploring the white-sanded, trend-setting vibrant city that is Miami – see you next year!
